Wildlife Surveys

The federal Endangered Species Act, and California Endangered Species act list 471 species as threatened or endangered in the State of California.

Before a project begins on a site that has a potential for listed species to occur, qualified biologist must survey the area using specific protocols, typically defined by the CDFW or USFWS.

The Northwestern pond-turtle is proposed as a threatened species under the ESA, and is a species of special concern (SSC) in California.
